Setting up as an independent professional

If you rent a chair, booth or suite, you’re running your own business — so on JustBook you get your own account, not a corner of somebody else’s. Your clients, your prices, your policies and your payouts, all yours.

You can then link to the venue where you work, so clients browsing their page can find you.

Create your account

Sign up as normal (Create your business). On the first step you’re asked How does your business operate? — choose Booth rental, then I’m an independent professional.

Two things to know as you go:

• Business name is what clients see. Most independents use their own name.
• Plan — you’ll be offered the solo sizes, because you’re one person in one place. All three tiers are available; pick the one with the features you want.

Everything else is the ordinary setup: your address and hours, your services and prices, your booking policies. First-time setup walks through it.

Your booking page

Your page is your own, at your own JustBook address — put it in your Instagram bio, on your business cards, anywhere you like. It works whether or not you’re linked to a venue.

Because you’re the only person taking bookings, clients never see a “choose your professional” step. They pick a service, pick a time, and they’re done.

Link to your venue

Go to Settings → My venue, enter the venue’s JustBook address (the part before .justbookapp.com on their page) and choose Request. They accept from their side, and you appear on their page.

The venue can also invite you first, in which case you’ll see the request waiting in the same place with an Accept button.

Linking gives the venue nothing except your listing. They can see what any client can see — your name, your logo, your booking address — and nothing else. Not your clients, not your bookings, not your takings.

When a client reaches you from the venue’s page, your page shows a line saying they’re booking with an independent professional at that venue. It’s there so the jump between two different-looking pages makes sense, and so it’s clear whose business they’re booking with.

Getting paid

You connect your own payout account under Settings → Integrations, and card payments go straight to you. Your business name is what appears on your client’s statement, and any tax paperwork from the payment processor comes to you.

The venue is not involved in any of it, and JustBook takes no cut of your bookings.

If you move, or leave

Remove the link from Settings → My venue, and add the new venue the same way you added the first.

Nothing else changes. Your clients, your booking history, your page, your address and your payouts stay exactly as they are — they were never held by the venue, so there’s nothing to move and nothing to ask anyone for.

If you outgrow booth rental

Opening your own place, or taking on staff? Switch your account to a regular business under Settings → My venue → “Switch to a regular business account”. Everything you’ve built comes with you unchanged, every plan size opens up, and any venue listing comes down (a venue’s page lists independent renters, and you won’t be one). The switch is one-way — venues can always invite you again later if you go back to renting, but the account itself stays a regular business.
