Connect Stripe to take payments

To collect money online — deposits at booking, balances after a visit, tips, and package sales — connect a Stripe account to your business. JustBook uses Stripe Connect: you own the Stripe account, payments land in it directly, and JustBook takes no cut of each transaction.

Connecting Stripe takes two steps: link the account, then switch on the Payment step at checkout.

  • Online payments are part of the Growth plan and above. If you don’t see the Stripe controls, check your plan under Settings → Subscription.
  • Have your business details ready — Stripe asks for your legal business information, a bank account for payouts, and identity verification during onboarding.
  1. Open Settings → Integrations.
  2. In the Stripe Payments card, select Set up payments.
  3. A Stripe window opens. Sign in to an existing Stripe account or create a new one, then complete Stripe’s onboarding: business details, bank account, and identity verification.
  4. When Stripe finishes, you return to Settings → Integrations. The Stripe Payments card now shows your account with three status markers:
    • Charges — whether Stripe will accept payments yet.
    • Payouts — whether Stripe will pay out to your bank.
    • Details — whether you’ve submitted everything Stripe needs.

If Stripe still needs something, the card shows Action required with the outstanding items and a button to Finish verification or Complete Stripe setup. Payments won’t work until Charges is enabled, so clear any requirements Stripe lists.

During Stripe onboarding, leave “Tax monitoring and calculation” off. JustBook already applies your tax and sends Stripe tax-inclusive amounts, so Stripe’s tax tools aren’t needed and would treat your totals as additionally taxable. See taxes for how JustBook handles tax.

Connecting Stripe makes payments possible — you still choose when customers pay online.

  1. Open Settings → Booking Flow.
  2. In the Online Payments card, confirm the status pills read Stripe Connected and Charges Enabled.
  3. Switch on Enable Online Payments.

Once payments are enabled and Stripe has charges enabled, the Payment step appears at the end of the public booking flow, and deposit, cancellation, and no-show policies start to apply. Until then you can still configure those policies — they just don’t charge anyone yet.

  • Your country is set from your business information when the account is first created and can’t be changed afterward — Stripe ties the connected account to a single country.
  • Your currency follows your business currency and is used for every amount JustBook sends to Stripe. Amounts are always shown and charged in that one currency.

With Stripe connected and payments enabled, you can:

  • Require a deposit at booking.
  • Collect the balance, and tips, after a visit.
  • Sell packages online.
  • Issue refunds that go back to the customer’s card through Stripe.
  • Reconcile Stripe payouts and fees in Bookkeeping.
  • Manage in Stripe (in the Stripe Payments card) opens your Stripe dashboard, where you update bank details, view payouts, and — if you want your own logo and colours on Stripe’s checkout page and receipts — set up Stripe branding.
  • Unlink account disconnects Stripe from JustBook. Payments stop working until you reconnect, but your Stripe account itself is not deleted and its history stays intact.
