Finding your way around

The first time anyone signs in to /admin — you or anyone on your team — a short guided tour points out the couple of things that aren’t obvious from looking at the screen. It takes about twenty seconds.

Use Next to move through it, Skip to leave at any point, or press Esc. Arrow keys work too.

Then it shows you each area as you get there

Section titled “Then it shows you each area as you get there”

Rather than one long walkthrough on day one, JustBook offers a short tour the first time you open somewhere new. The most useful is Settings: it clicks through the tabs one at a time and tells you what each is for, so you know where to come back to when you need it. There are also quick ones for the calendar and your menu.

These are always an offer, never an interruption — a small card in the corner asking if you’d like the tour. Choose No thanks and it won’t ask again.

The tour only ever shows people what they can actually reach, so nobody is introduced to a page they can’t open. It follows the same rules as the sidebar itself:

  • Their role’s permissions. A receptionist is shown appointments and customers; a team member who only takes bookings is shown their own calendar. Neither is shown Settings or the money pages.
  • Your plan. Analytics, packages and loyalty only appear in the tour when your plan includes them.
  • Your setup. If you’ve turned off part of the booking flow — collections, say — the tour doesn’t mention it.

So the owner’s tour is around ten stops, and a stylist’s is three or four. That’s expected.

Once someone has seen the tour, JustBook watches for two things and mentions them once, in place:

  • You gave them access to something new. Grant a team member the customers permission and the next time they sign in, the tour points at Customers and says it’s new. This heads off the most common support question there is — “where did that go?” — after a permission change.
  • Your plan gained a feature. Upgrade, and the people who can use the new feature are shown where it lives. Someone who can’t open it isn’t interrupted about it.

You’ll see a New for you label on these, and each one appears only once.

The tour runs once, but nobody has to get it right the first time. Anyone can replay it from Edit profile → Getting around → Replay tour. It’s per person — replaying yours doesn’t affect anyone else, and finishing the tour never changes anything about your account or your business.

On a phone the tour works the same way, shown as a card at the bottom of the screen rather than highlighting the sidebar (which is tucked behind the menu button there).
